SELECTED REVIEWS

The list below features excerpts from reviews of Trust No One's gigs and recordings.  Many of the comments were submitted by visitors to Trust No One's now defunct MP3.Com website in-between 1999-2003, some of whom ran their own online MP3 "radio" stations at the site with playlists featuring Trust No One's tracks.  Some of the quotes are from fellow artists that also used MP3.Com.  MP3.Com went offline in December 2003 after selling out to CNET.  Trust No One would like to thank the individuals quoted here for their support and promotional assistance.

  • "Trust No One are not a synth pop act, neither are they a pure electro act. Rather they build layers of retro-futuristic sound that recall, variously, early nineties Erasure (but harder), Mansun (but deeper) and Underworld (with melodies). Pushed for a tag, you'd call it pop, but this is pop as it used to be and should be again: urbane, intelligent and deserving of respect." •
  • "The actual song is great as it draws ideas and influences from quite a broad range of genres and influences, which is a very hard thing to do. Overall this is a very good effort that could be a real winner with a little extra attention." (Future Music magazine, July 2004, commenting on the song 'Tarmac')

  •
  • "Brit Synth-pop at its best. Bouncing, shimmering rhythms, well mixed and melodic." (Unity 1 - MP3.Com station)

  •
  • "Intelligent lyrics." (Voice Of The Satellites - MP3.Com artist)

  •
  • "Your [Trust No One's] music displays high standards of production and creativity." (Online music label peoplesound.com)

  •
  • "Trust No One were fantastic and Andy came across as being very confident... Really liked the sparse set up of just keyboards, sequencer and guitar. Sound was good too." (Portsmouth singer/songwriter Kev Hardy commenting on Trust No One's Wedgewood Rooms live performance in July 2004 - available on CD as 'Showcase - Live At The Wedgewood Rooms'.)

  •
  • "Outstanding artwork." (Future Music magazine, June 2003)

  •
  • "Trust No One delivered a tight performance on the night and that this was their first live performance makes the achievement all the more remarkable." (Leon Tricker, Portsmouth electro solo artist Qhixldekx commenting on Trust No One's Wedgewood Rooms live performance in July 2004 - available on CD as 'Showcase - Live At The Wedgewood Rooms' - to read the full review, click here.)

  •
  • "It's fantastic to hear some heavy synth-pop leanings in 2004... Although comparisons to the Pet Shop Boys, and more distinctly New Order, can be made, Trust No One are far from one-dimensional. The progressive shuffle of 90's indie-dance a la Underworld, fairly timeless guitar, late 60's vocal harmonies and a clear predilection for contemporary orchestration can all be found within... A series of enchanting tunes which culminate with the fantastic 'Refuse To Be Used' which has thus far refused to leave my stereo! Which does say an awful lot, I reckons." (Vanity Project music fanzine reviewing 'Promo' - to read the full review, click here.)

  •
  • "Trust No One sound excellent live, the songs are lovely and come over really well. Great harmonies between you as well." (Wedgeweb event co-organiser Sue Portman commenting on Trust No One's Wedgewood Rooms live performance in July 2004 - available on CD as 'Showcase - Live At The Wedgewood Rooms'.)

  •
  • "GREAT WORK!! GREAT VIBE/ENERGY!!! Good theme!!" (Nathan Profitt - MP3.Com artist commenting on the song 'Refused To Be Used')

  •
  • "Andy's set went really well and it certainly sounded impressive through the Wedge's PA system. I can't say too much obviously as I was up there playing guitar too, but what I heard from Andy was a great performance." (Trust No One guitarist and lead singer of Portsmouth band The Lazys, Ben Fall commenting on Trust No One's Wedgewood Rooms live performance in July 2004 - available on CD as 'Showcase - Live At The Wedgewood Rooms'.)

  •
  • "Think Gary Numan meets ELO and you will have a good idea what "Say Nothing More" sounds like. This synth pop song has a fine melodic structure, groove and chorus hook. Another winner from the UK — cheers mates." (Besonic.com music website talent scout Phillip E. Hardy commenting on the song 'Say Nothing More')

  •
  • "Trust No One were superb... The songs are very strong, with 'Tarmac' working well as an opener. 'Say Nothing More'... for my money it is TNO's best song. The emotion is overwhelming." (Leon Tricker, Portsmouth electro solo artist Qhixldekx commenting on Trust No One's Wedgewood Rooms live performance in July 2004 - available on CD as 'Showcase - Live At The Wedgewood Rooms'.)
