TRUST NO ONE
'The Morning After (Edit)'

Song image
Song story and background information

A catchy pop song about a one night stand. 'The Morning After' is Trust No One's 13th single, and the third track to be taken from their third album 'Younger Than Some, Smarter Than Most'. The track uses a sparse synth arrangement, overlayed with three tracks of Fraser's guitars, and held together with triggered percussive samples from Roland's classic TR-808 drum machine.

Lyrics
I check my watch, it's half past six
You stretch your tights and fix your lips
I meet the lads at the Rose In June
You down a gin and play some tunes

At closing time I join the queue
I catch your eye - you see me too
We spend all evening talking small
Then end up in your front hall

This is how I feel the morning after
With no more music and no more laughter
The night before was fast and free
But how long will you stay with me?

When I wake up I'm next to you
Is this the start of something new?
Your makeup smudged, your hair a mess
I don't feel well, I must confess

This is how I feel the morning after
With no more music and no more laughter
The night before was fast and free
But how long will you stay with me?

You mumble something I don't hear
I just want to disappear
I pick my clothes up off the floor
And you direct me to the door

This is how I feel the morning after
With no more music and no more laughter
The night before was fast and free
But how long will you stay with me?

This is how I feel the morning after
With no more music and no more laughter
The night before was fast and free
But how long will you stay with me?
