'Common Knowledge'

Song image
Song story and background information

The additional track on the 'Destined To Die' CD Single. 'Common Knowledge' was originally written and demo'd back in 1992 at around the same time as 'Destined To Die', and is lyrically very much a "nonsense" track - the words are full of contradictions and unspecified metaphors, with the chorus being a reminder that many deep or profound statements are ultimately meaningless. Musically, the song was intended to be founded on a similar tight, crunchy sound to early Curve material.

Lyrics
Towering needs are dwarfed by imagination
In the church perpetual congregation
Haphazard needs are overtaken by fear
Thoughts once warped now surface too clear
Influence my bias towards life
You've kissed me with your timeless knife
To fall unseen is to fall unknowing
Seeds of death are what we are sowing

It's common knowledge that all words mean nothing
And this comes as no surprise
It may seem hard to grasp but words aren't meant to last
And all that you hear is lies

Sanctify my superficial lust for boredom
You fear life as I fear my freedom
Have you felt my insipid need to campaign?
From retreat we must regain
While life now teaches us destitution
Deserts speak your retribution
Literature; it all adds up to nothing
Our life force shall be forthcoming

It's common knowledge that all words mean nothing
And this comes as no surprise
It may seem hard to grasp but words aren't meant to last
And all that you hear is lies

Overstretch towards communication
In the black depth of elation
Bitter sweet lies and continuation
Implode near my aberration

It's common knowledge that all words mean nothing
And this comes as no surprise
It may seem hard to grasp but words aren't meant to last
And all that you hear is lies

This comes as no suprise
All that you hear is lies
