TRUST NO ONE
'Destined To Die'

Song story and background information

Trust No One's much-downloaded debut Virtual Single. 'Destined To Die' deals with atheism and is sung from an agnostic's point of view, giving religion a severe end of century dressing down. Spurned from Andrew's humanist outlook, the reasoning established in the song is that destiny and divine influence are attributed to the individual, rather than an almighty being. This is, understandably, some of our deepest lyrical subject matter, and a fitting track with which to launch our online career. Originally written in 1992, the song has been completely re-recorded with Trust No One's most recently acquired digital studio equipment, using a few samples from the original demo version (only ever recorded to cassette).

Lyrics
Lost
He could have gone so far
He worked himself too hard
It ended all too quick
Another statistic

Died
When she was in her prime
She had too little time
Let's all break out and fight
Ignore the words of Christ

I'm not waiting for doomsday to swallow me
Your faith has got no part in my destiny

Stop
I'm tired of all this pain
There is no God to blame
Destruction once again
Tell me is this all in vain?

I'm not waiting for doomsday to swallow me
Your faith has got no part in my destiny
My fate is overruled by me anyway
Condemn 'cause we're all destined to die someday

We're condemned

I'm not waiting for doomsday to swallow me
Your faith has got no part in my destiny
My fate is overruled by me on my own
Condemn 'cause we're all destined to die alone

We're condemned
